Alongside multi-genre DJ sets to showcase his diverse musical inspirations, Iyer’s sound palette draws influence from a variety of percussion oriented bass music, with uptempo productions underlining urgency and groove. The Singapore based musician uses Footwork as the perfect vehicle to showcase his South Indian roots.

Iyer’s recent release, “Third Culture Tamilian”, uses Chicago footwork music to reimagine Tamil film hits of the recent past for the modern dance floor. Released under London-based Modern Ruin Records last year, Third Culture Tamilian is a follow-up to Iyer’s debut EP Tamil Footwork from 2014. There, big chunks of Tamil melodies are left intact with only minor modifications. This approach allows listeners to discover the dynamism of Tamil music with its 80s-style synths and playful dialogue between vocalists.
